This role has a flexible office (some days virtual) arrangement after completion of the training period. Any remaining work days will be in the office in Malone, NY. As an accountant with the small, collaborative accounting and finance team at Alice Hyde Medical Center, you will: gain significant exposure to a variety of accounting responsibilities, work directly with internal and external stakeholders to problem-solve, appreciate regular meaningful interaction with executive leaders, and enjoy hands-on transition time and ongoing support from the prior person who held this role. Job Summary The Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for performing various duties related to the completion of timely and accurate monthly financial statements for Alice Hyde Medical Center, including work papers for assigned general ledger accounts. The accountant will record financial transactions for designated sections of the Alice Hyde Medical Center’s Financial Statements. The Accountant is also responsible for providing supporting documentation to finance leadership and department managers as well as providing backup to other finance team members as needed. The Accountant is expected to follow appropriate accounting documented procedures. In addition, the Accountant has the authority to analyze various general ledger accounts and record adjustments when deemed appropriate. The Accountant is expected to prioritize his/her work so as to meet the required deadlines set by the Accounting Manager. Job Requirements Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field. No prior experience required if individual possesses a four-year accounting degree. Knowledge of desktop PC applications and general accounting software required. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required. General knowledge of not-for-profit healthcare accounting and healthcare revenue cycle is preferred. Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment is a must. Ability to assimilate and retain high levels of detail. Ability to deal with an ever changing environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong organizational skills. As Senior Accountant you will e valuates, select and apply generally accepted accounting principles. Provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data and preparing reports. Prepares standard and non-standard journal entries for income and balance sheet statements. Researches, analyzes, reviews and/or reconciles unusual entries and/or entries that do not balance. Properly reconciles account balances. Conducts financial report analysis and/or audits. Assists with major/complex projects including annual audit preparation. you will: Follow general accounting practices and procedures in preparing standard and non-standard journal entries for income and balance sheet statements, consolidates statements and other accounting reports. Research unusual entries and/or entries that do not balance. Analyzes results and makes recommendations. Prepare financial reports and/or conducts/analyzes audits or reconciliation. Plays key support role in major/complex monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting, including audit preparation and/or projects. As directed, exchanges limited information and resolves issues with outside organizations and/or auditors. Provide accounting related advice and counsel to internal and lower level personnel. Maintain/analyze current accounting controls and makes recommendations for changes by preparing and recommending policies and procedures. Maintain records of financial documents with appropriate supporting material. Updates records as necessary. Recognize that ensuring a safe work environment is everyone’s responsibility. Acts and utilizes equipment in a manner that ensures a safe and incident free work environment. Recognize who their customer is, understands their customers’ requirements, and focuses on customer satisfaction.
